Welcome to the beginning of our THIRD (!) year at the Phoenix Biomedical Campus. The entire library staff of the AHSL is pleased to continue to extend our digital and print resources to students, residents, fellows, faculty amd staff at both campuses. In Phoenix you will notice a focus on the use of electronic materials, except in the case of books not yet available in digital format. What is exciting about our digital collections is the fact that our resources will be available to you wherever and whenever you need them, at your fingertips. You will be able to access the world’s knowledge bases via your personal desktop or laptop computer, a PC at your Mom’s house, or one at your local library. Just be sure to always have your CatCard (and/or SunCard) with you, and remember your NetID (UA) and ASURIte (ASU)!
Your AHSL-Phoenix has a staff of two (2), but all Tucson librarians and other staffers are available to help you as they always have been. Kathleen Carlson, our ASU Clinical Education Librarian at the downtown Phoenix Campus is also more than willing to work with you, as are CELs at Banner Good Samaritan, PCH, and MMC. We all look forward to working with you, and to finding ways to make the right information available to you in the format that is most useful to you. Please tell us via email or phone when you identify something (print or electronic) we can acquire, negotiate for, or make more accessible. We all want to know how to help you as you study, learn and teach. Our offices and the library are on the second floor of historic Building 1 at 550 East Van Buren, on the east side of the building near the computer classroom. Please plan to visit the library, both in person and virtually.
The AHSL-Phoenix has three rooms/study areas for your use:
- The main reading room, room 1254
- The Computer Classroom, room 1252
- The Library Annex, on the south side of the bldg facing Van Buren
We offer space for both quiet and private study, and room for active collaboration, AND we are now planning for version 2.0 of the Library which will be in the new Health Science Education Building. During this process we invite your ideas and suggestions!
